Participation of the Jordanian Dates Association in Fruit Logistica Berlin 2026

The Jordan Dates Association (JODA) is participating in Fruit Logistica 2026, held in Berlin, Germany, from February 4-6, 2026, with a distinguished national pavilion showcasing the Jordanian date sector. The Jordanian delegation includes 11 Jordanian companies and more than 20 participants representing companies and institutions operating in the sector.

His Excellency Dr. Fayez Khoury, the Jordanian Ambassador to Berlin, inaugurated the Jordanian Dates pavilion and viewed the most prominent products on display. He praised the quality of Jordanian dates and the efforts made to enhance their presence in global markets, emphasizing the importance of participating in international exhibitions to promote Jordanian products and open new marketing opportunities.

This participation is organized with the support of the Euromed Clusters Forward project, funded by the European Union, in partnership with Leaders International for Economic Development, as part of efforts to strengthen clusters and enable Jordanian products to access regional and international markets. The Jordanian delegation and members of the Jordanian Dates Association were also invited to an official dinner held at the residence of His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fayez Khoury. During the dinner, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation and promote Jordanian dates in European markets. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Jordanian Dates Association presented His Excellency with a commemorative plaque in appreciation of his support and interest in the Jordanian date sector and his backing of international promotion efforts.

This participation is part of the Association’s ongoing efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the Jordanian date sector, expand export opportunities, and build sustainable trade partnerships with various global markets. The Jordanian pavilion witnessed a high volume of visitors and business owners, exceeding expectations.

National Strategy Assessment Project for Red Palm Weevil Control.

The Jordan Dates Association (JODA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Directorate of Plant Protection and Health, organized a workshop on Sunday, February 1, 2026, to present the results of field surveys conducted by the association in the Southern Ghor region as part of the project to evaluate the national strategy for combating the red palm weevil.

The workshop was opened by the Director of the Southern Ghor Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Raeda Al-Maayta, and the President of the Jordan Dates Association (JODA), Engineer Anwar Haddad. The Directorate of Plant Protection and Health at the Ministry of Agriculture presented the national plan for combating the red palm weevil, the ministry’s strategy for controlling the Indian red palm weevil, and the principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), as well as prevention and early detection procedures.

The project team from the Jordan Dates Association (JODA) also presented the results of the field surveys conducted in previous periods to determine the current situation in the Southern Ghor region regarding the red palm weevil infestation, the infestation rates, and the effectiveness of the national plan’s activities. The participants stressed the importance of strengthening coordination between the concerned authorities and unifying efforts to protect the palm sector and reduce the spread of pests, which contributes to supporting the sustainability of agricultural production of dates in various regions of the Kingdom. The association, as a representative of the date palm sector in the Kingdom, also stressed the importance of cooperation of all parties to achieve the desired goals of developing and protecting the palm sector at the national level.

Special workshop on the red palm weevil infestation

In cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Jordanian Dates Association (JODA), in coordination with the Azraq Agriculture Directorate, held a special workshop on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, on the red palm weevil and the main pests that attack date palms in Jordan in light of climate change in the Azraq Directorate, within the framework of the project “Efficiency of the National Plan to Combat the Red Palm Weevil in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan” supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

A delegation from the Board of Directors of the Jordan Dates Association (JODA) participated in the celebrations held by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the occasion of its 80th anniversary.

Outstanding Jordanian Participation in the FAO’s 80th Anniversary Celebrations in Rome

A delegation from the Board of Directors of the Jordan Dates Association (JODA) took part in the celebrations organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the occasion of its 80th anniversary. The event was held as part of the “From Seed to Food” exhibition at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

During the ceremony, the President of the Association, Eng. Anwar Haddad, presented a special honorary shield to FAO Director-General Dr. Qu Dongyu. The shield was made from palm fronds and carved with the image of Petra and the JODA logo, in recognition of FAO’s efforts in supporting and developing the date palm sector in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan through the “One Country One Priority Product” (OCOP) initiative, implemented by the organization in Jordan.

The event was attended by His Excellency the Jordanian Ambassador to Rome, Mr. Qais Abu Dayyeh, along with former FAO Director-General Mr. José Graziano da Silva, His Majesty the King of Lesotho from Southern Africa, and a number of high-level international dignitaries.

Eng. Anwar Haddad also presented a special honorary shield to Ambassador Abu Dayyeh in appreciation of his support in promoting Jordanian dates on international platforms.

Sedra Dates Company also participated in the exhibition, showcasing premium Jordanian date products in its pavilion. Additionally, a documentary film was screened during the event, highlighting the long history of Jordanian dates, which dates back over 4,000 years B.C.
