In cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Jordan Date Palm Association (JODA) held a concluding workshop on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, on the red palm weevil and other major pests attacking date palms in Jordan in light of climate change. The workshop took place at the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate building in the Karameh area, and was attended by the Director of Agriculture for the Central Jordan Valley, the Association’s President, Engineer Anwar Haddad, international experts in the field, specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant agricultural directorates across the Kingdom, and date palm farmers. The workshop focused on discussing mechanisms for strengthening and developing plans to combat these pests.
