Engineer Anwar Haddad, President of the Jordan Dates Association, participated in the Fourth Smart Functional Food Conference, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture, and in the presence of His Excellency the Director General of the Food and Drug Administration and Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization Office in Amman, Engineer Nabil Al-Assaf, and a large number of former ministers of agriculture, as well as representatives of embassies, agricultural unions and federations, and international organizations.
Engineer Anwar Haddad chaired the conference preparatory committee and emphasized that the fourth edition of the conference reflects the importance of directing national efforts toward smart and functional food as a tool for achieving food security and reducing hunger. He added the dates are considered smart and functional foods and are very important in agricultural processing industries. He added the world is on the verge of this type of food, which calls for directing efforts towards achieving environmental and economic sustainability for food. The President of the Association delivered a lecture on investment opportunities in the field of manufacturing primary and secondary date products.
