The area planted with date palms in Jordan is about 45 thousand dunums, and the rate of increase in areas and production is estimated at about 10-15% annually.<\/h5>\n
The current number of trees is estimated at about 750 thousand trees.<\/h5>\n
Production quantities amount to about 35 thousand tons of various types, including about 22 thousand tons of Mejhoul dates and the rest are Barhi and other types. The volume of direct and indirect investment in the Jordanian dates sector exceeds more than half a billion dollars, and the annual working capital is estimated at about 60 million dollars, an increase of about 10 million over last year.<\/h5>\n
\nThe number of workers in the sector is about 10,000 job opportunities, including about 40% female workers, and the annual growth rate is estimated at about 15% in this field.<\/h5>\n
\nJordan is considered the country with the highest export percentage of local production, 65% of dates.<\/h5>\n
\nThe financial return on one cubic meter of water is considered one of the highest returns and is estimated at approximately 3-4 times the return in protected and other crops and more than 10 times in open vegetable crops.<\/h5>\n
\nThe average Jordanian per capita consumption of dates is currently estimated at about 3.6 kg per capita annually.
